Feast of Santa Fortunata in Baucina
The Feast of Santa Fortunata in Baucina, the virgin and martyr venerated for over 200 years in the Sicilian village in the province of Palermo, traditionally takes place on 14 February, the anniversary of the arrival of the sacred body of Santa Fortunata in Baucina, and the second Sunday of September when the great external festival takes place.
In the month of September, within the celebrations in honor of Santa Fortunata, patron and protector of the town, various moments of celebration and devotion have been organised.
The culminating moment of the festival is the procession of the urn containing the Sacred Body of Santa Fortunata, on the monumental launch, which crosses the streets of the town, making its way through the crowd of faithful. The launch is carried on the shoulders of the bearers who sing the praises at every step E cu vera firi e cu veru cori l'amari calli la nostra santa avvucata.
There are various collateral events organized on the occasion of the celebrations: the equestrian parade, the figurative procession, concerts, shows and the charity lottery.
