Feast of Santa Maria Maddalena in Alimena
The Feast of Santa Maria Maddalena in Alimena is celebrated on 1 September, the date on which even the farmers, who were busy working in the fields during the summer, could take part.
The feast day is preceded by a rich religious and recreational programme.
The culminating moment of the celebrations is the Solemn Procession of the Simulacrum of Saint Mary Magdalene, in pink dress, green cloak and skull in hand, which winds through the city streets and in which the various brotherhoods with traditional clothes and civil, military and religious authorities.
During the celebrations, musical and entertainment shows are organised.
