Feast of Sant'Oliva in Pettineo

The Festival of Sant'Oliva in Pettineo takes place at the beginning of May and includes a rich religious programme.
Among the culminating moments of the festival we remember: the blessing of the countryside, during which the priest blesses the countryside of olive trees raising the Holy Relic containing a fragment of the Saint's body to the sky; the banner descent, during which a banner depicting the Saint is brought in front of the SS. Crucifix in the main square of the village; a Vutata dell'altari, i.e. a scenic representation of the apotheosis of Saint Olivia; the Historical Cavalcata whose origins date back to the 16th century; the traditional procession of the Vara with the Simulacrum of Sant'Oliva.
