Feast of Santa Sofia in Sortino

The feast of Santa Sofia in Sortino takes place on 10 September and is the Patronal feast of the city.
The cult of Santa Sofia in Sortino is very ancient, according to tradition the Saint lived in these places, and the the celebration is deeply felt and participated in.
The culminating moment of the festivities is the traditional sciuta, exit, of the simulacrum of the Patron Saint and of the Holy Relics from the Sanctuary of Santa Sofia welcomed by the crowd of faithful who sing the anthem of Santa Sofia, from the launch of the balloons and the sound of the musical band.
During the celebrations, the religious calendar is accompanied by a rich recreational calendar with folkloristic, musical and entertainment shows.

07:00 Firing of 21 cannon shots and ringing of the Sacred Bronzes.

08:00 Tour through the city streets of the Musical Bands.
Traditional blessing of the votive bread offered in honor of the patron saint.

10:00 Solemn Pontifical.
