Feast of St. Joseph and Holy Mary Cacciapensieri in Cammarata
The feast of San Giuseppe and Maria Santissima of Cacciapensieri, primary patroness of Cammarata and San Giovanni Gemini, is celebrated in the month of August with great external celebrations.
The culminating moment of the festival is the solemn celebration which begins from the church of Maria SS di Cacciapensieri with the release of the simulacra of San Giuseppe and the Madonna of Cacciapensieri, carried on the shoulders by men and women respectively. Along the route, the faithful donate money and jewels which are hung in front of the effigy of Saint Joseph or the Madonna.
During the holidays, concerts, musical and entertainment shows are organised.
