Feast of the Holy Crucifix in Gibellina
In Gibellina, in the month of May, the feast of the Holy Crucifix takes place. On this feast day, the discovery, in the 16th century, of a wooden Crucifix in the countryside between Gibellina and Santa Ninfa is remembered, which was then transported to the cemetery of ancient Gibellina.
During the celebrations the Solemn Parade of Prisenti is scheduled with knights parading in the saddle of harnessed mules, the traditional throwing of peanuts, peanuts and sugared almonds, the parade of Sicilian horse-drawn carts, bands and folkloristic groups. There is also the solemn procession of the simulacrum of the SS. Crucifix through the streets of the town.
