Feast of the SS. Crucifix in Lascari

The Feast of the SS. Crocifisso a Lascari takes place every year in the month of July.
To mark the beginning of the festivities is the Flag of the SS. Crucifix which is hoisted on the bell tower of the Mother Church of the Borgo.
The festival includes a rich liturgical program which culminates with the precession of the Most Holy Crucifix, a very valuable sculpture in cypress wood to which a legend is also linked.
In the days leading up to the feast, there are various moments of prayer and the sciacculata, a fioccalata that accompanies a statue of the SS. Small crucifix. The sciacculata takes place every evening during the octave of preparation for the feast.
On the morning of the feast day, the recimonia de U Mazzu takes place in which a floral homage to the Holy Crucifix.
In the afternoon there is the procession of the Simulacrum of the Holy Crucifix and the Relic of the Holy Cross. According to tradition, the simulacrum is carried by twelve barefoot men dressed in white, who represent the twelve apostles. The role of bearer of the simulacrum is highly coveted and is handed down from father to son.
Alongside the liturgical program, on the occasion of the celebrations in honor of the Patron Saint of Lascari, there is also a program full of entertainment and musical shows.
