Feast of the Holy Crucifix in Siculiana

The Festa del SS.mo Crocifisso in Siculania, also known as the festa di lu 3 di maiu, or the feast of May 3, is one of the religious most felt and participated by the population.
The most evocative moments of the festival are the falling of the veil accompanied by the traditional song A te Lode o Crocifisso , which takes place on the eve of the feast, and the traditional and solemn procession of the simulacrum representing the Black Christ which takes place on the day of the feast, May 3rd. A particularity of the procession is the fact that it proceeds by sudden movements and dives of the vara, attributed to the will of the Patron Saint.
