Tagliata fest in Castelvetrano

Tagliata fest in Castelvetrano

The Tagliata Festival in Castelvetrano takes place on the third Sunday of September and is one of the oldest festivals in the city.
The term "Tagliata" refers to the ancient Marian sanctuary located near the tuff quarries.
On the morning of the Saturday before the day of the feast, a pilgrimage takes place to the sanctuary of the Madonna to ask for graces or as a sign of gratitude for those received.
The day of the feast takes place, since 1759, one of the oldest city fairs: the traditional "Fiera della Tagliata" during which numerous stands full of typical local craft products are set up.
Numerous other collateral events are organized on holiday days.
