Maiorchino Festival in Novara di Sicilia
Every year, on Carnival Tuesday, the Majorchino Provincial Festival and Tournament is held in Novara di Sicilia. The competitions of the game of Majorchino tournament take place at the end weeks before Carnival and culminate on Shrove Tuesday with the men's final of the Maiorchino Tournament. During these festive days, the shape of the famous Novara DOC cheese will be transformed into a real rolling object that will cross the streets of the village.
On the occasion of the competition linked to the Majorcan, a sheepfold is set up with shepherds who prepare ricotta and cheese, the tuma, to be distributed to visitors together with the homemade macaroni seasoned with pork sauce and sprinkled with grated Majorchino beef.
