Hazelnut Festival in Polizzi Generosa

In Polizzi Generosa, every year, in the second half of August, a participatory and suggestive folkloristic event takes place: the hazelnut festival. On the occasion of the festival, the "stalls" are set up, that is, reconstructions of some corners of rural and village life, and some significant moments of the ancient daily life inside the village are staged: "u picuraru" committed to milking the sheep , "u furgiaru" intent on replacing horses' hooves, "u mulinarti" who grinds the wheat, "u furnaru" who works the bread; the women gathered in the "cuttighiu", the courtyard, crocheting; the storyteller who enlivens the evening.
In the afternoon the parade of characteristic Sicilian carts takes place along the main street of the town, while folkloristic groups sing traditional songs with traditional costumes of the place of origin.
Everything is pleasantly enriched by the continuous and welcome distribution among the participants packets of local hazelnuts still green and the opportunity to taste excellent local products.
