Museum of the Sea in Pantelleria
The Museum of the Sea in Pantelleria , named after Sebastiano Tusa, is located in the Arenella area, an area of industrial archeology between the port, Mursia and the Sevi Village.
The exhibition space is divided into four sections; the first section Pantelleria the heart of the Mediterranean is a video environment that reproduces the microcosm of Pantelleria, a sort of time machine that revives the obsidian traffic with a video mapping, the arrival of the people of Sesi, the first forms of anthropization of the island and architectural social developments, up to its central function in the Mediterranean with the Roman domination; the second section contains the reconstruction of the image of the Scauri ship, a wreck from the first half of the fifth century AD, the remains of which are found on the sandy bottom between the two breakwater piers of the marina; the third section is dedicated to underwater itineraries and the submerged stories of Pantelleria with a detailed illustration of the seven submerged itineraries that can be visited today; finally the fourth section is dedicated to the culture of the sea .
