Cave of the Boats in Ustica
The Grotta delle Barche di Ustica is located in the southern part of the island after the Grotta della Pastizza and the "Pagliaro", a characteristic little house inserted inside a cavity that was originally part of the same complex as the Grotta delle Barche.
La cave owes its name to the fact that for about a century and a half it was used as a shelter for boats during the winter.
It is a large cavern, which however represents only a small part of the original complex which must have been much larger .
Inside the cave there is a small beach and the waters are clear, crystalline and take on iridescent colors from green to blue.
