Spinazzola Rock in Panarea
The Scoglio Spinazzola is characterized by steep cliffs overlooking the sea and is located near the west side of the Basiluzzo rock, off the coast of the island of Panarea. It is believed that the two islets were originally united.
Given its particular shape with spiers and vertical walls, the islet has been nicknamed Duomo di Milano. In this area the seabed has a flat course and is mainly composed of large boulders and offers a highly suggestive path thanks to the presence of this light colored monolith like marble which runs vertically down to the depths. In the waters around the Scoglio Spinazzola it is possible to spot moray eels and red scorpionfish.
Spinazzola has been declared an integral nature reserve for which landing is prohibited except for scientific purposes.
