Porri Mount in Salina
Dei Porri Mount is a now extinct volcano located in the western part of the island of Salina. It is separated from Mount Fossa delle Felci, the largest mountain in Salina, by a valley where the town of Valdichiesa is located. The slopes of the mountain are covered with low scrub, among which heather, aromatic wormwood, strawberry tree and mastic stand out and are the natural habitat of the rat snake, the only species of snake present in the Aeolian Islands.
A ' excursion on Monte dei Porri is quite demanding and recommended for trekking experts or for those who enjoy good physical shape.
