Stromboli Craters
The eruptive center of the Stromboli volcano is currently composed of three craters i aligned on the top of the Sciara del Fuoco, whose morphology, due to explosions more violent, it changes frequently.
The ordinary activity of Stromboli consists of intermittent medium-low energy explosions lasting a few seconds at intervals of ten to twenty minutes. The emissions are composed of slag bombs, lapilli, ash and blocks that rise from a few tens of meters up to a few hundred. Periods of inactivity are very rare. In the case of eruptions of greater intensity, the lapilli and the burning rocks descend along the sciara until they reach the sea, offering a unique spectacle.
