Church of the Holy Water in Alcara Li Fusi
The Church of Acquasanta di Alcara Li Fusi is located on the slopes of the Rocca Calanna.
In this place there is a small circular chapel in dry stone at the inside of which, in front of a statuette of San Nicolò Politi surrounded by two descending stairways, there is a large boulder. Below the boulder, in a deep niche, you can see a pure and limpid pool of water that springs from an undetectable source.
According to tradition, it was the Holy Master by Alcara Li Fusi who, during the journey from Adrano to Alcara, thirsty implores the Lord and receives the suggestion to beat his cross-staff on that stone to make the spring of water gush out.
The Acquasanta church is a place of pilgrimage and in the first days of May a mass is celebrated in honor of the patron saint.
