Church of Santa Caterina in Castanea delle Furie
The Church of Santa Caterina is one of the few religious buildings that survived the Messina earthquake of 1908. The date of construction of the building is not known but the architectural typology of the church demonstrates its ancient origins: the presence of the dome resting on the tamburo recalls Arab-Norman architecture.
The church is characterized by elegant late Renaissance forms. Restored in 1685, inside it houses a wooden statue of Santa Caterina and a large canvas depicting San Michele.
