Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Gioiosa Marea
The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie is one of the most beautiful churches in Gioiosa Marea. It almost faithfully follows the appearance of the previous Church present in Gioiosa Guardia.
The church is in Baroque style and was built at the end of the 1700s.
The Church has a salient facade and a built bell tower, placed in a behind it, in sandstone with an arabesque-style dome, made in pumice stone in 1814.
The church has a rectangular plan and is divided into three false naves.
Inside there are marble altars tramischi of Baroque style of notable artistic value.
Among the works kept in the church of particular interest are: the statue of the Madonna del Carmelo of the Gaginian school dated 1623; the statue of the Madonna delle Grazie of the Gagini school in Carrara marble from the 17th century; the statue of the Madonna della Neve or del Giardino, also from the Gaginian school of the 16th century; oil paintings on canvas by Olivio Sozzi from 1737; a pipe organ from 1725; Frontals in red velvet interwoven with silver embroidery from the end of the 17th century.
