Antiquarium of Milazzo
The Archaeological Antiquarium of Milazzo, dedicated to the scholar Domenico Ryolo and inaugurated in 2010, is housed in one of the most prestigious structures, from a historical and cultural point of view, in the city: the east wing of the Spanish Quarter.
Through an uninterrupted sequence of 10 Exhibition Rooms, adequately equipped and enriched by effective teaching equipment, the Antiquarium offers an overall reading of the data provided by the archaeological research conducted in the Milazzo area, from the second post-war period to today.
The rooms are dedicated to the documentation of the Prehistoric and Protohistoric Age, from the 5th millennium BC. to the 10th century B.C. The exhibits, selected from the most significant and diagnostic ones, are of particular interest for the definition of the chrono-typological seriation of pre-Greek cultures in Sicily and testify to the historical and territorial importance of the ancient city of Milazzo.
