Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso in Militello Rosmarino
The Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso in Militello Rosmarino is a seventeenth-century building of worship located on a hill overlooking the Rosmarino Valley.
The simple façade is enriched by a valuable stone portal surmounted by a large window .
The interior, with a single nave, features a fine triumphal arch in red San Marco marble which frames the altar, also in marble.
Among the works kept in the church, noteworthy are: wooden statue of the Madonna del Soccorso; two eighteenth-century wooden choir stalls; a seventeenth-century canvas depicting the Immaculate Virgin with Saints Francis and Charles Borromeo.
The church is flanked by a room, the Retreat, built in the seventeenth century and used to accommodate elderly and sick priests. This place was equipped with a precious library, unfortunately lost.
