Shrine of Our Lady of Crispino in Monforte San Giorgio
The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Crispino was founded in the 16th century and its foundation is linked to the discovery of an ancient image of the Virgin Mary.
The sanctuary is immersed in the beauty of uncontaminated nature and is still surrounded by the cave in which the religious painting was found. The current church was erected in 1936 and is the expansion of an old building.
The Sanctuary contained a sculpture depicting the Madonna and Child, dating back to the early sixteenth century and created by the sculptor Antonello Gagioni. The statue, now kept in the church of San Pellegrino, has always been much venerated by the faithful who still today go to venerate the Madonna and ask for her intercession.
