The Rocca di Novara di Sicilia is formed by the Rocca Salvatesta, the nearby and lower Rocca Leone and Monte Ritagli di Lecca. The fortress, with its 1,340 m above sea level, represents the most imposing peak of the Peloritan-Nebroidea mountain range, so much so that it is nicknamed The Matterhorn of Sicily.
The Rocca has a very characteristic landslide ridge consisting in the upper part by a very interesting geological rock formation: the calcarenites of Floresta.
The fortress of Novara has always been shrouded in an aura of mystery and the charm of suggestive popular legends: the finding of Rocca Salvatesta and legend of Rocca Leone.
