Sant'Angelo di Brolo is a small village rich in history, art and culture, set among the peaks of the Nebrodi.
The foundation of the current urban center dates back to the legendary battle of the Altavilla district, in the Norman era, when Ruggero II D'Altavilla won against the Saracens.
The town developed around the Byzantine-era Basilian monastery of San Michele Arcangelo. The presence in Sant'Angelo of the monks of the Rule of San Basilio and of numerous other monastic orders, attracted by the presence of the Basilians, favored a notable development of religious architecture.

Salvatore dating back to the 17th century, an important religious building which in the past had the power and dignity of the Matrix, today home to the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art; the Mother Church dedicated to Santa Maria, an elegant building dating back to 1534; the 17th century Church of Saints Philip and James with a splendid Baroque style façade; the Church of S. Domenico, dating back to the 16th century, and the former Dominican Convent (now the town hall), decorated with valuable stuccoes from the Serpotto school; the former Convent of the Poor Clares, now the municipal theatre; the Church of S. Nicolò dating back to the 16th century; the 16th century Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli; the 16th century Church of San Francesco di Paola; the Cloister of San Francesco D'Assisi from the 16th century; the Monastery of the Basilian monks dating back to the 11th century; the Church of San Francesco di Paola (16th century); the eighteenth-century Chiesetta dell'Addolorata with a valuable Baroque-style ceiling with wooden inserts with geometric and floral motifs; the Church of the SS. Salvatore (17th century); the Church of San Carlo; the Church of the SS. Trinity; the Oratory of San Nicolò; the Church of San Giovanni; the Church of Our Lady; the Church of Santa Maria di Loreto. Among the religious architecture we also remember the Patrick's Chapel, a contemporary work of art that stands out for its pink color and the recycled materials used.
Other places of interest are: U Cappelluni, an underpass created through a pointed arch; u bagghiu, an ancient courtyard with a valuable wooden portal; Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the fulcrum of the town's public life; the monument to the fallen of the Great War; the former kindergarten from the 17th century, now a palace of culture.

Sant'Angelo di Brolo it is an important agricultural center of the Nebrodi but it is renowned in particular for the breeding of pigs whose slaughtering and bagging of meat takes place locally using still artisanal systems through which the famous cured meats of S.Angelo di Brolo are produced.
