Bottesco Fountain in Saponara

The Bottesco di Saponara Fountain is an ancient fountain, recently renovated, composed of tubs continuously filled with clear water coming from the Peloritani heights.
In the past these tubs had become a public washhouse for local women who exploited the effect water detergent naturally soaked in saponin, which is rich in the root of the Saponaria Officinalis plant, once widespread in the area.
