Altofonte is a small village that stands at the foot of Monte Moarda, in an area rich in woods and springs.
The village boasts an important past: chosen as a summer residence by the Normans, Aragonese and Angevins, it was the birthplace of King Peter II of Aragon and was the Royal Hunting Park of the Norman King Roger II.
Its history lives on in the village through its monuments and numerous villas, the wealth of very pure water springs in its territory is reflected in the presence of numerous fountains and mills.
