The Secca della Formica , two outcropping rocks located just outside the port of Porticello .
Since the rocks were not known on nautical charts and were hardly visible, this area, which was part of the ancient routes, was the scene of shipwrecks of large boats in Phoenician and Roman times.
The rock of the formica is a mountain that from 60 meters. depth that reaches the surface and comes out of the water for about half a meter. This rock has become the home of numerous marine animal and plant species, and for this reason it is the ideal destination for lovers of snorkeling and diving. Given the size of the mountain, the area offers the possibility to vary the dives, choosing easy or difficult, shallow or rather demanding, technical or recreational routes.
All these characteristics make the area one of the most famous and visited diving spots in the area.
