Catacombs of Villagrazia di Carini
The Paleochristian Catacomb of Villagrazia di Carini , with its over 5,000 square meters of excavated surface, is one of the most important testimonies of early Christianity in Sicily .
The monument is characterized by the monumentality of the underground galleries and cubicles, in whose walls arcosoli and niches are still perfectly preserved, and by the numerous neo and old testamentary frescoes, as well as scenes of everyday life and an iconographic repertoire belonging to the full Roman tradition , restored and dated among the oldest on the island.
The visit, which winds through galleries and cubicles, lasts about 60 minutes and is led by the archaeologists of the ArcheOfficina Cooperative.
