Church and convent of the Capuchins in Ciminna
The Capuchin Church and the adjoining convent constitute a religious complex located on the borders of the municipal cemetery.
The convent was founded in 1588 at the behest of Giovanni Ventimiglia, marquis of Geraci, and was financed by D. Marco Mancini , Marquis of Ogliastro, who, out of devotion to the order, took charge of almost all the costs of the factory. The convent hosted one of the most important religious communities in the Capuchin province of Palermo.
The Capuchin church was built in the same era as the convent. In 1755, at the behest of the Rev. P. Antonino Maria da Ciminna, it was subjected to important renovations which led it to take on its current appearance.
The simple gabled façade has a single portal with entablature surmounted by a rectangular window and it ends with a slightly overhanging tympanum.
The interior is decorated with some paintings and houses the relics of the Saints. Aurelius and Felix martyrs.
