Church of San Domenico in Ciminna
The Church of San Domenico in Ciminna is a building of worship in the village which houses some works of particular artistic value.
The date of construction of the church is not known. Historical documents testify that, following a donation in 1510 by the two benefactors Giacomo and Nicolo di Bilie to the Dominican order, the convent attached to the church dedicated to the SS. Savior. Therefore it is only known that the church existed before the construction of the convent.
The simple rectangular façade, punctuated by stone ashlar pilasters, has a single portal surmounted by a tympanum.
Artworks are kept inside the church of particular artistic value: two works by Antonello Gagini; the sixteenth-century statue dedicated to the Madonna; a valuable tabernacle.
