Church of Carmine in the Corleone neighborhood
The Church of the Carmine in the Corleone district, located in the Borgognoni district, stands in what was once the entrance hall of the Borgognini barracks.
In this place the barracks were built in 1607, which housed a garrison of troops during the Spanish domination. The complex was abandoned in 1696 and subsequently entrusted to the Carmelite Fathers of the Reformation who, however, were unable to transform the structure into a convent due to its precarious conditions. Only the entrance hall of the barracks, in 1757, became the current Church of Carmine al Quartiere.
The façade, with very simple lines, has a wooden portal surmounted by a circular window.
The interior, decorated with simple stuccos, houses a canvas of Maria SS. del Carmine by an unknown author.
