The Church of Santa Maria Maggiore della Neve, also known as the Church of the College of Mary, is now reduced to a state of ruin: only the façade remains visible today.
The date of construction of the original structure is not known but it is certain that the church has very ancient origins. It was rebuilt at the end of the 14th century to house the brotherhood of Santa Maria della Neve. Subsequently, in 1618, it was entrusted to the work of San Filippo Neri. On this occasion the building was enriched in the Sicilian Rococo style, which still shines through in the few elements still visible on the façade. Following the Belice Valley earthquake in 1968, the church suffered extensive damage and was never reopened for worship. The side walls were subsequently demolished and the space occupied by the church was used as a car park.
Today, only the stone façade, the large wooden door and a votive shrine dedicated to the Ecce Homo remain visible.
