Mastro di Campo Museum in Mezzojuso
The Mastro di Campo Museum in Mezzojuso is a permanent exhibition on the Historical Carnivals of Sicily. Particular attention is paid to the section dedicated to the Mastro di Campo, or the popular festival that has been held every year for over two centuries in Mezzojuso on the last Sunday of carnival.
It is a museum itinerary , in rooms pertaining to the municipal castle, redeveloped and furnished with original works that reproduce the most important figures of carnivals. The museum tells, through thematic panels and singular artistic creations, the story of the most beautiful and ancient popular festivals and folkloristic events that still take place today during the carnival.
The section dedicated to the Mastro di Campo festival exhibits some of the most representative pantomime costumes, a rich photographic and bibliographic collection dedicated to the festival and offers the possibility of attending a video projection of the entire event.
