Museum of the Opera dei Pupi in Mezzojuso
The Puppet Museum of Mezzojuso, The Puppet Island is a small museum that houses the collection of Sicilian puppets created by Biagio Bonanno in a life of passionate collecting.
The premises of the museum, obtained from the renovation of a stable, exhibit over 300 pieces from all over the island. The L'Isola dei Pupi museum today represents one of the best examples of museographic research on the puppet theater.
The museum exhibits a rich collection of Sicilian puppets from the Palermo and Catania schools, puppets , puppets from various countries of the world, Sicilian carts, armor, period posters and a vast collection of authentic texts including the complete work of Giusto Lo Dico, a manual that inspired all the operators).
A room of the museum is reserved for an authentic and ancient theatre with benches, wings and proscenium where it is possible to attend the classic opera dei pupi.
