Puppet Museum in Palermo
The Antonio Pasqualino International Marionette Museum was established in 1975 by the Association for the conservation of popular traditions, whose founder was Antonio Pasqualino, and expresses the desire to safeguard a form of precious theater in history of Sicily: the puppet opera, declared by Unesco a Masterpiece of the intangible and oral heritage of Humanity.
The Museum is housed in the former Hôtel de France, a building of great architectural and historical interest, in the ancient center of Palermo. It is spread over three levels and houses numerous exhibition spaces where it is possible to admire many testimonies that trace the history of this art (stage texts, puppets, theaters and furnishings), a bookshop, a library, a video library, a tape library and a room that houses the theatrical programming.
