Chinese Building in Palermo
The Chinese Palace in Palermo was built in 1798, the year in which King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon was forced to leave Naples due to the French occupation. On that occasion he moved, together with his wife, to Palermo, where he commissioned the architect Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia to build an elegant and refined residence.
Built inside the Parco della Favorita , the palazzo is an original example of the Chinese architectural style.
The visit of the building highlights decorations ranging from oriental to neoclassical taste, passing through a series of Arabic details. Worthy of note is the dining room with the mathematical table, an ingenious system that allowed the dishes to reach the table directly through ropes and underground passages, thus avoiding the presence of the servants in the room.
