Favorita Park in Palermo
The Parco della Favorita , also known as Real Tenuta della Favorita , is a city park located in Palermo, at the foot of Monte Pellegrino . It was commissioned by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon and was mainly dedicated to hunting and agricultural experimentation activities, today the park is inserted within the Monte Pellegrino nature reserve.
The park is crossed by two long avenues, named after Hercules and Diana, who originally strolled while today they are very busy communication arteries that connect the city with the well-known seaside resort of Mondello. Viale d’Ercole ends with a nineteenth-century neoclassical style fountain.
