Forziere di Luce in Piana degli Albanesi
The " Forziere di Luce " exhibition is housed in the oratory of the church of San Giorgio in Piana degli Albanesi .
The exhibition consists of a vast collection of sacred icons collected in more than fifty years of priesthood by papas Elefterio Schiadà, who donated this collection to the parish of San Giorgio. These icons come from different pictorial schools and therefore represent a true cultural heritage. Also of great value is the collection of Antiminsion, that is a very important piece of furniture of the altar in the Byzantine liturgy which consists of a rectangular piece of cloth, or linen or silk, usually decorated with representations of the Descent of Christ from the cross, the four Evangelists, and the inscriptions relating to the Passion, where a small relic of a martyr is sewn.
