Civic Museum in Modica
The Civic Museum of Modica was established by Franco Libero Belgiorno around the 1950s. The Museum has an archaeological section that includes finds dating back to between prehistory and medieval times. Among the most relevant is the "Heracles of Cafeo", a bronze statuette, dated to the end of the third century BC, depicting the hero after his first effort. There are also historical collections of ancient books, Risorgimento weapons and lamps, as well as the "Quasimodo Collection" and a collection of works by the local artist Enzo Assenza.
