De Leva Portal in Modica
The Palazzo De Leva is a very old noble building in Modica, which for centuries belonged to a noble family whose coat of arms dominates the main facade.
Of considerable value it is the elaborate medieval portal in the characteristic Gothic-Chiaramonte style. The portal originally belonged to a religious building but, in the reconstruction after the earthquake of 1693, it was incorporated into the palace.
Today, Palazzo De Leva is used as a location for artistic exhibitions or major cultural events.
