Misericordia Quarry in Ragusa
Cava Misericordia di Ragusa is one of the Iblean quarries that deeply affect the plateau. The landscape of the quarry is characterized by interesting naturalistic features, including small springs and "urvi", and a varied vegetation that makes the quarry itself a small treasure trove of biodiversity. The landscape, which runs along the San Leonardo river, is characterized by typical Hyblean dry stone walls and ancient mills. There are also numerous traces that testify to the presence of man over the centuries such as the hypogea and the hermitage of Our Lady of Mercy, an ancient Benedictine monastery immersed in silence and greenery.
