Mudeco Costume Museum in Ragusa
The Ragusa Costume Museum, which is housed in the Donnafugata Castle, houses a precious collection of clothes and accessories that belonged to Gabriele Arezzo di Trifiletti. The collection traces three centuries of history starting from the 18th century.
The rich collection has about 500 dresses, 700 garments, more than 1500 fashion accessories with shoes and hats of all shapes and various items of various objects including cosmetic products , tools for embroidery and sewing and, among others, a singular birthing chair and a curious travel bathtub.
Each mannequin in the museum has interpreted the body that wore that dress through painstaking work modeling of the shape that followed and accompanied the sartorial lines of the dress.
In the museum there are a series of devices that guarantee with technical systems all the parameters necessary for the correct conservation of relative humidity, temperature, filtering of dust and lighting to ensure the perfect preservation of clothes.
