Di Mezzo Tower in Santa Croce Camerina
The Torre di Mezzo , also known as Torre di Pietro , is a coastal defense tower against Barbary attacks commissioned by the Deputation of the Kingdom of Sicily in 1600. It was erected on a promontory which is located halfway between the Scalambri tower and the Vigliena tower, built in the same period and with which it is in visual contact. For this reason the tower is known as "Torre di Mezzo".
Of the tower, with a square base, today only a few ruins remain.
Near the tower extends the homonymous beach set in a rocky bay that it shelters it from the winds.
