Museum of Costume in Scicli
The Costume Museum of Scicli is the result of extensive ethnographic research begun in the early 90s of the twentieth century by Giovanni Portelli and Giovanna Giallongo. The set-up occupies the private rooms on the ground floor of the ancient monastery of San Michele in the historic center of Scicli. The museum presents finds that vary from the area strictly linked to the history of costume, to the tradition of embroidery and popular weaving to go to the various aspects of material culture; the collection also includes a large repertoire of clothes and materials from countries bordering the Mediterranean.
