Battalari Castle in Bisacquino
The Battalaro Castle of Bisacquino, also known as Battalari or Patellaro Castle, is a fortified building that stands on an isolated hill today occupied by a suggestive but dilapidated farmhouse.
It is a medieval guard castle, probably built in the 8th century AD which, given its position, was able to control the existing hamlets in the area inhabited by local Arab peasants. The complex was adapted, in modern times, to a fortified farmhouse, as it is today.
The castle, today in poor condition, has a wall equipped with 3 towers, differentiated by morphology and construction features. In the fortified complex, a residential part can also be identified with spaces used as warehouses and houses.
