Saracen Quarter in Bisacquino
In ancient times, Bisacquino was divided into sixteen districts, of which the oldest is the Grazia and San Francesco di Assisi district, also called Quartiere Saraceno.
The Saracen district of Bisacquino is characterized by the presence of narrow, winding streets surmounted by arches which lead into characteristic courtyards, where it is easy to come across and discover the numerous glazed clay votive aedicules depicting the image of the Madonna del Balzo or the Christ.
