Castle of Stone in Castelvetrano
The Castello di Pietra is a naturalistic oasis of rare beauty made up of rugged cliffs at the foot of which a bend in the Belice river winds its way.
Over the ages geological the Senore stream that flows into the Belìce has carved out a deep canyon inside which a dense forest has grown. The microclimate created in this canyon of friable rock has allowed specimens of holm oaks, downy oaks, olive trees, wild acanthus flowers, and other species, to proliferate despite the fact that these specimens commonly prefer different altitudes and temperatures.
On the summit of this promontory it is possible to they find traces of prehistoric encampments even prior to the Selinunte settlements.
