Squares System in Castelvetrano
The originality of the center of the ancient city of Castelvetrano is the System of Squares . The three main squares of the city , piazza Garibaldi, piazza Umberto I and piazza Cavour, are communicating and contiguous with each other .
Originally it was a single floor which, due to the enlargement of the surrounding buildings, in particular the Mother Church and the Palazzo dei Principi, has undergone alterations and adaptations, up to the current layout.
In the System of the Squares the spaces shrink, expand and expand. articulate in an evocative game of scenographic effects, concluded by the Fountain of the Ninfa which acts as a backdrop to Piazza Umberto and Piazza Garibaldi.
