Fiumara Màzaro
The Màzaro is a Sicilian river that springs from the Rapicaldo springs and flows into the Mediterranean Sea, in the locality of Mazara del Vallo.
At its mouth an important Phoenician emporium arose. between VI and IV BC .. Some excavations were in fact carried out at the mouth and brought to light the ancient piers.
An important feature of this river is the fact that, at certain times of the year, a phenomenon called "< b> marrobbio ", consisting of a rapid and sudden change in the water level, with excursions even of the order of one meter occurring in a few minutes.
The mouth of the river is the port-channel of Mazara del Vallo, home to the city's important fishing fleet.
