Roccazzo Archaeological Site
The Archaeological Site of Roccazzo , located near the hamlet of Borgata Costiera, in Mazara del Vallo, contains an imposing Aeneolithic settlement, with large boat-shaped huts and numerous well tombs.
The excavations they have brought to light numerous Eneolithic tombs and huts , as well as Neolithic and Bronze Age pottery. Furthermore, in the westernmost part of the archaeological area, the remains of a complex Greek building were found, probably datable to the first phase of colonization of the territory of Selinunte.
Only the trenches of the settlement present in the area remain of foundation of four huts of rectangular shape. Forty-seven tombs were found in the necropolis, each one used for the burial of a single corpse, with the exception of one, which housed fourteen.
